Special Court Acquits Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Family in MUDA Land Allotment Case

Lokayukta closure report finds no evidence; proceedings to continue against other accused

Karnataka, Jan 29 :  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family have been formally cleared in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment case, with a special court accepting the Lokayukta police’s closure report that found no incriminating material against them.

The Special Court for Public Representatives, presided over by Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat, ruled that the investigation did not establish any wrongdoing by Siddaramaiah, his wife B M Parvathi, his brother in law Mallikarjuna Swamy, or the original landowner J Devaraj. With this, the court endorsed the Lokayukta’s conclusion that the allegations lacked evidentiary support.

The case centred on claims that 14 compensatory MUDA sites in a prime Mysuru locality were allotted to Parvathi under a 50:50 ratio scheme, allegedly through the chief minister’s influence. However, after a detailed probe, investigators found no proof to substantiate the charges, leading to the filing of the closure report.

While granting relief to Siddaramaiah and his family, the court clarified that inquiries against other accused individuals linked to the case will continue. The next hearing has been scheduled for February 9. The court also dismissed pleas seeking contempt action against the investigating officer and outlined the limited role of central agencies in the matter.

The FIR was registered on September 27, 2024, and the Lokayukta had earlier submitted findings in February 2025 clearing the chief minister and his relatives. With the court now formally accepting those findings, the legal proceedings against Siddaramaiah and his family stand concluded, even as the broader investigation moves forward against remaining accused.
