Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Says Governance Must Prioritize People’s Welfare

Deputy Chief Minister urges officials to ensure welfare schemes reach intended beneficiaries with transparency and accountability

Visakhapatnam, Jan 31: Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, also Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Rural Water Supply, on Friday urged officials to place people’s welfare at the heart of governance. Addressing a review meeting of Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, RWS, and PR Engineering officials from North Andhra districts at the Visakhapatnam Collectorate, he emphasized that the coalition government is committed to integrity, transparency, and accountability in administration.

“The people voted for this government with high expectations. Governance must reflect public interest, and officials should ensure welfare programmes reach the intended beneficiaries,” Pawan Kalyan said.

He highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen the Panchayat Raj department as a robust institutional framework, stressing that while employees would receive full support, negligence, corruption, or indifference would not be tolerated. Officials reviewed the progress of major initiatives including Palle Pandaga 1.0 and 2.0, Adavi Thalli Baata, Jal Jeevan Mission, and MGNREGS.

Referring to the previous administration, the Deputy Chief Minister alleged that the Panchayat Raj system had been weakened, local self-governance undermined, and funds diverted due to lack of financial discipline. He called on officials to discharge their duties sincerely and uphold the government’s vision of accountable, people-focused administration.
