Sat Sharma raises strong demand in Rajya Sabha to identify and expel Rohingyas and illegal Bangladeshi migrants
New Delhi, 03 February 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party Jammu & Kashmir President and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Sat Sharma, CA, today raised a serious and sensitive issue concerning the illegal staying of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi migrants in India, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir, during the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.
Sat Sharma stated that the unchecked presence of illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshi migrants in Jammu & Kashmir and several other parts of the country has emerged as a grave concern for national security, demographic balance, and local livelihoods. He pointed out that in several areas, especially near strategically important and sensitive locations, illegal settlers have reportedly encroached upon government land, altered place names, and established unauthorized settlements, which has led to growing unease among the local population.
Highlighting the issue of Burma Basti in Jammu, Sat Sharma cautioned that such illegal encroachments not only disturb social harmony but also raise serious questions about internal security and law & order. He emphasized that the intentions, background, and activities of these illegal migrants must be thoroughly examined to safeguard the interests of the nation and its citizens.
Sat Sharma welcomed the efforts initiated by the government to identify illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals, but stressed that there is an urgent need to accelerate the process. He strongly demanded that the identification, detention, and deportation of illegal migrants be carried out in a time-bound and decisive manner, with adequate logistical support and resources provided to the concerned agencies.
Sat Sharma urged the Central Government to ensure that all actions are taken strictly in accordance with established laws and constitutional provisions, while prioritizing the security, stability, and welfare of the residents of Jammu & Kashmir and other affected states.
Sat Sharma further underlined that the issue requires a comprehensive and coordinated approach, involving security agencies, civil administration, and state authorities, to effectively deal with the challenges arising from illegal migration. He reiterated that the BJP remains committed to protecting national security, demographic balance, and the rights of Indian citizens, and will continue to raise such critical issues at every appropriate forum.
