Overnight Rescue at Sadna Top: 35 Stranded Vehicles Evacuated Amid Heavy Snowfall

Administration evacuates 35 vehicles after heavy snowfall disrupts traffic on high altitude route

Kupwara, Feb 04 : The Kupwara district administration carried out a night long rescue operation at Sadna Top after heavy snowfall stranded dozens of vehicles along the high-altitude corridor, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Working under challenging weather conditions and low visibility, coordinated response teams were mobilised late at night and continued efforts into the early hours, successfully evacuating at least 35 vehicles trapped by deep snow.

Swift response prevents major emergency

Authorities deployed snow clearance equipment and field personnel on a war footing to minimise risk to commuters and prevent potential medical or weather related crises. Officials prioritised vulnerable stretches of the route while focusing on passenger safety.

Fresh snowfall had rapidly worsened conditions in the area, bringing vehicular movement to a halt. The administration said prompt intervention helped restore partial traffic flow and prevented the situation from escalating.

Advisory issued for travellers

Residents and travellers have been urged to avoid non-essential journeys դեպի high-altitude regions and to follow traffic advisories until conditions improve. Officials added that the weather is being closely tracked, with additional measures ready to be implemented to maintain road safety and public convenience.
