Saurabh Dwivedi Joins Saif Ali Khan in Red Chillies’ Netflix Film ‘Kartavya’

Journalist turned actor makes his debut in Red Chillies’ investigative drama as Netflix unveils its 2026 slate

Mumbai, Feb 04 : Netflix has announced its upcoming India slate for 2026, with the investigative drama Kartavya drawing significant attention. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, the film stars Saif Ali Khan in the lead role and marks the acting debut of journalist Saurabh Dwivedi.

In Kartavya, Saif portrays a police officer navigating a complex moral landscape where duty clashes with personal beliefs. The narrative explores the tension between right and wrong, focusing on the difficult choices faced by those tasked with upholding the law. Rather than relying on high-octane action, the film is expected to emphasise psychological depth and layered storytelling.

The cast also includes Rasika Dugal and Sanjay Mishra, both known for their strong performances in content-driven projects. Dwivedi’s transition from journalism to cinema has sparked curiosity, particularly after his recent departure from The Lallantop, where he gained recognition for his widely viewed interviews.

The project is directed by Pulkit, whose previous work Bhakshak earned praise for its gritty and realistic approach. While the release date has not yet been revealed, the announcement has already generated early buzz.

Netflix also confirmed another Saif Ali Khan film titled Hum Hindustani. Set in the years following Independence, the movie follows a group of officials working to conduct India’s first democratic election despite formidable challenges. Directed by Rahul Dholakia and featuring Pratik Gandhi, the film is inspired by real events.
