Trump Again Says He Averted India-Pakistan War
US President repeats assertion at National Prayer Breakfast and on social media, while India maintains no external mediation took place.
NEW YORK/WASHINGTON, Feb 6: US President Donald Trump on Thursday once again asserted that he played a role in preventing a war between India and Pakistan, repeating the statement twice within a single day.
Speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump said he had helped end multiple global conflicts over the past year, including tensions between India and Pakistan. He later reinforced the claim in a post on Truth Social, stating that his leadership had stopped a potential nuclear confrontation from unfolding.
In the post, Trump highlighted US military strength and ongoing defence upgrades, adding that his administration had intervened to avert major wars involving several countries.
The US President has made similar remarks numerous times since May last year, when he announced on social media that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire following overnight discussions that he described as being facilitated by Washington.
India, however, has consistently rejected the suggestion of third party mediation, maintaining that any understanding between the two neighbours was reached without external involvement.
