Amit Shah Visits Forward Post Along IB in Kathua, J&K

Focus on Border Security, Welfare Initiatives for BSF Personnel During Two-Day J&K Visit

Jammu, Feb 6: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday visited forward areas along the International Border in Kathua as part of his two-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

Shah toured the Gurnam and Bobiyian border outposts in the Hiranagar sector, interacting with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed there. The visit comes amid heightened emphasis on preventing terrorist infiltration, curbing arms and narcotics smuggling, and strengthening anti-terror operations. In the past two weeks, intensified operations in Kathua, Udhampur, and Kishtwar districts have neutralized four hardcore Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in multiple encounters.

Arriving in Jammu late Thursday night, Shah was welcomed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and senior BJP leaders, including Assembly Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma.

In Kathua, the Home Minister virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for six welfare schemes aimed at supporting border guards at Bobiyian. Later, he is scheduled to chair a high level security review at Lok Bhavan in Jammu and distribute compassionate appointment letters to families of terror victims. On Saturday, Shah will preside over a meeting focused on Jammu and Kashmir’s development at Lok Bhavan.
