Union Budget Brings Growth, Job Opportunities for AP, Claims Pemmasani

Union minister says higher infrastructure spending, MSME support and tax incentives will boost employment and state economy

VISAKHAPATNAM: Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar on Sunday said the Union Budget 2026-27 has been structured to accelerate economic growth, ease financial pressure on citizens and open up fresh opportunities for states like Andhra Pradesh through focused investments and sector-specific incentives.

Addressing the media in Visakhapatnam, Pemmasani said the budget balances citizen welfare with business growth by reducing duties on select items and strengthening employment-generating sectors. He pointed out that unemployment has declined by nearly three per cent, reflecting the Centre’s sustained push for job creation.

He highlighted a 10 per cent increase in railway allocations for the State and plans for seven high-speed rail corridors nationwide, with Andhra Pradesh expected to be part of one of them. Enhanced spending on national highways and infrastructure projects, he said, would significantly improve connectivity and logistics across the State.

Pemmasani said ₹10,000 crore has been earmarked for MSMEs, enabling small and medium enterprises to scale up operations and lower costs. He added that additional funding for health and rural development, along with continued support for fisheries, animal husbandry, coconut and cashew sectors, would directly benefit Andhra Pradesh’s livelihood economy.

The minister also noted proposed tax incentives for data centres, which are expected to attract fresh investments and create employment in the State. He said the budget encourages high-value agriculture and strengthens domestic manufacturing, including electronics components currently sourced through imports.

On the primary sector, Pemmasani said the Centre would work closely with Andhra Pradesh to promote high-value farming, with special emphasis on fisheries, animal husbandry, cashew and coconut cultivation.
