King Charles Pledges Palace Support as Police Investigate Prince Andrew Over Epstein Files
King Charles Backs Police Probe as Epstein Files Raise Questions About Prince Andrew
US, Feb 10 : Buckingham Palace Offers Support Amid Allegations
King Charles has broken his silence on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, with Buckingham Palace publicly confirming its readiness to assist authorities as allegations against Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, are reviewed.
A palace spokesperson stated, “The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light regarding Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct.”
Palace Steps In as Police Review Complaint
The intervention follows confirmation from Thames Valley Police that they are considering an investigation based on a complaint filed by the anti-monarchy group Republic. The complaint alleges that Andrew misused his public office and breached official secrecy.
US Department of Justice documents suggest Andrew may have shared sensitive trade information with Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy between 2010 and 2011. Reports include confidential details on visits to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, as well as sensitive investment opportunities in Afghanistan.
Royal Family Expresses Concern for Victims
The palace emphasized that “the King and Queen’s thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse.” Prince William and Princess Catherine have also voiced deep concern over the revelations.
Prince Andrew’s Ongoing Legal Troubles
This is not Andrew’s first encounter with controversy. The unsealing of court documents from Ghislaine Maxwell’s 2015 defamation case has reignited scrutiny of high-profile figures connected to Epstein, including US Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, among others.
While many names were mentioned in passing, the documents underscore the influence of Epstein’s network and the abuse that went unchecked. Previous investigations into figures like model scout Jean-Luc Brunel, who died in 2022 while under scrutiny for sexual abuse allegations, further highlight the reach of the scandal.
