J&K Administration Evaluates Pay Raise Proposal for MLAs’ Personal Staff
Finance Department says request for higher pay and benefits is currently under examination.
Jammu, Feb 10: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday informed the Assembly that it is examining a proposal to increase the monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants attached to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
The update came in a written response from the Finance Department to a query raised by Congress MLA Tariq Hameed Karra. He sought clarification on whether Personal Assistants had requested a revision in their honorarium along with allowances such as travel and daily benefits, comparable to staff supporting other legislators.
Responding to the query, the department stated that the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department had forwarded the proposal for consideration. “A proposal has been received regarding enhancement of the monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants engaged with Hon’ble MLAs. The proposal is under examination in the Finance Department,” the reply noted.
