Opposition Floor Leaders to Meet Speaker Before Deciding on Removal Notice
NEW DELHI, Feb 10: Opposition parties on Tuesday said they will decide on issuing a notice to move a resolution for the removal of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla only after holding a meeting with him.
The deliberation came during a gathering of Opposition floor leaders in the chamber of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge earlier in the day.
The move follows Monday’s decision by Opposition parties to consider action against the Speaker for allegedly disallowing Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition members from speaking during the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address, in addition to the suspension of eight MPs.
Leaders emphasized that the meeting with Birla will guide their next steps, underscoring a coordinated approach before formally submitting any notice in the House.
