Regularisation of Daily Wagers a Human Issue, Govt Must Honour Promises: BJP’s Sham Lal Sharma
BJP leader calls for clear roadmap to resolve long pending issues and release unpaid wages
Srinagar, Feb 12: Emphasising that the regularisation of daily wagers is a humanitarian matter, BJP MLA Sham Lal Sharma on Thursday urged the government to honour its commitments and outline a concrete plan to address their long-standing concerns.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma said the issue goes beyond policy and requires immediate attention to provide workers with stability and dignity. Referring to remarks made by the Chief Minister in the Assembly about election manifestos, he noted that such documents represent a party’s pledge to the public and must be respected. “A manifesto reflects promises made to the people, and those commitments should be fulfilled,” he said.
The BJP leader added that apart from manifesto assurances, the concerned minister had also promised to clear pending wages and undertake regularisation in phases. However, he pointed out that there is still no definite timeline or clarity on the process.
Expressing solidarity with the affected workers, Sharma said daily wagers remain uncertain about their future. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with them and will continue to support their genuine demands,” he stated.
