From $100B Investment to $250B Ecosystem: Adani’s Ambitious Plan to Build a Massive AI Backbone
Renewable Powered Hyperscale Data Centres to Anchor India’s “Intelligence Revolution”
Mumbai, Feb 18 : The Adani Group on Tuesday announced a USD 100 billion investment to develop renewable energy powered, hyperscale AI ready data centres across India by 2035, aiming to create one of the world’s largest integrated energy and compute platforms. The initiative is expected to catalyse an additional USD 150 billion across allied sectors, generating a projected USD 250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem over the next decade.
The announcement positions Adani at the forefront of India’s push to build sovereign artificial intelligence infrastructure, integrating energy transmission and data centre operations under a unified framework. Chairman Gautam Adani described the effort as central to the country’s “Intelligence Revolution,” highlighting the strategic role of energy-compute synergy in shaping the next decade.
The investment will expand AdaniConnex’s existing 2 GW national data centre capacity to a 5 GW target, strengthening India’s position in the global AI economy. Partnerships with global tech giants like Google and Microsoft are already underway, with projects in Visakhapatnam, Noida, Hyderabad, and Pune. The group is also developing a second AI data centre to support Flipkart’s high-performance computing and AI workloads.
Beyond direct investment, the initiative is expected to spur USD 150 billion in allied sectors by 2035, including advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms, server manufacturing, and supporting industries, creating a fully integrated ecosystem for AI innovation.
The 5 GW deployment will combine renewable power generation, transmission infrastructure, and hyperscale AI compute capacity within a single architecture, making it one of the largest national-scale integrated energy and AI platforms. Adani has invited global technology firms, sovereign institutions, and innovation partners to collaborate on this ambitious endeavour.
