Telangana HC Directs TSBIE to Issue Hall Tickets Amid Fee Payment Glitch

Court says students cannot be penalised for technical errors in online remittance system

Hyderabad, Feb. 24: The Telangana High Court on Monday granted relief to several Intermediate students who were prevented from appearing in the Intermediate Public Examinations–2026 due to a fee remittance discrepancy.

Justice E.V. Venugopal, while hearing multiple writ petitions, directed the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to issue hall tickets without delay. The court observed that students who had paid their examination fees to their respective colleges could not be held responsible for technical lapses in the payment transfer process.

Technical Snag Behind Dispute

During proceedings, it was submitted that although candidates had deposited the prescribed fees with their institutions, the amounts were not successfully transmitted to the Board because of a glitch in the online remittance system between colleges and TSBIE. As a result, the Board declined to generate hall tickets, effectively barring the students from writing the exams.

Counsel for the petitioners argued that the candidates had completed all necessary formalities and that administrative failures on the part of institutions should not jeopardise their academic prospects.

Agreeing with the contention, the court ruled that institutional or system-level errors cannot be grounds to deny students the opportunity to sit for examinations.

Special Practical Exams Ordered

The Bench also took note of missed practical examinations linked to the same technical issue. It directed the Board to conduct special practical tests for the affected students at a later date.

The matter has been posted for further hearing on March 26, 2026.
