The Kerala Story 2 Cleared With 16 CBFC Cuts; Kissing, Rape and Violence Scenes Trimmed
Mumbai, Feb 24 : The controversial film The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond, which has sparked debates over alleged propaganda, is set to release on February 27, 2026. The movie received a UA 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after implementing 16 mandatory cuts and modifications.
CBFC Reduces Explicit Content
According to reports, the filmmakers were asked to cut kissing and sexual assault scenes by 50 percent. The kissing scene now lasts seven seconds, while the sexual assault sequence has been shortened to 20 seconds.
Two violent scenes involving women were also trimmed: one depicting a woman being slapped and another showing a woman’s head being struck, each reduced by two seconds. Additionally, a sequence showing a house demolition by a bulldozer was modified, and some dialogues were muted.
Additional Compliance Measures
The CBFC also required the inclusion of a disclaimer emphasizing that the film is based on true events, extending the text duration by over two minutes and adding a voiceover. Proper documentation of the real-life events depicted in the movie was submitted, along with a consent letter for casting a minor artist.
The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond has a total runtime of 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 24 seconds, and is slated for a theatrical release this Friday.
