ICOP Udhampur- Day 4: Experts highlight Startup potential in Agri-allied sectors 

UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 26: The Fourth day of the Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP), a multimedia exhibition organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, witnessed a massive turnout of youth at Government Degree College Udhampur.

Students from Bhaskar Degree College and Government Degree College participated in the events, where they were meticulously briefed on the themes Startup India & Mission Aroma of the exhibition by Vikram Uppal, In-charge CBC Doda.

Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur, Brij Vallabh Gupta graced the occasion as the chief guest. He delivered an inspiring speech focused on the transformative power of youth led innovation. Highlighting that these programmes have been launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he emphasized that the government is committed to build a robust ecosystem by providing essential funds and resources for startups. “The national startup movement, which was conceived in 2015 and formally announced in 2016, reflects the PM’s deep commitment to the younger generation,” he noted.

Representative from State Bank of India, B. L Ambardar also attended the programme as a key resource person. Providing deep insights into the banking sector’s role in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, he encouraged students to explore startup ventures.

The Expert sessions featured specialized insights from other resource person Pooja Dutta from the Handloom Department who highlighted the importance of preserving traditional arts while integrating modern marketing techniques.

Horticulture Development Officer, Sanjeev Kumar said that the Horticulture department is providing a 50% subsidy for cultivation of Apples, Kiwi, Dragon fruit which can be a good choice for Startups for farmers.  He also delivered a keynote address on other schemes being run by the Horticulture department which offer support to  farmers and youth for Startups.

In-charge CBC Udhampur, Gurnam Singh highlighted the importance of such mega events and provided a detailed insight into the Central Bureau of Communication.

The day’s events reached an enthusiastic peak with a spirited Quiz followed by the reciting of the National Anthem, marking another successful day of public engagement and information.

Cultural presentations by the artists of the Central Bureau of Communication and College team were another attraction of the day-long programme.
