Punjab Police Bust Two Cross Border Drug and Arms Smuggling Networks, 10 Arrested

Punjab Police Arrest 10, Seize Heroin and Pistols in Major Anti-Smuggling Operation

Chandigarh, Feb 28: Punjab Police on Saturday announced the arrest of 10 individuals following the dismantling of two organised cross border smuggling networks involved in narcotics and illegal arms trafficking.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said preliminary findings indicate that the accused were in touch with handlers based in Pakistan through social media platforms. The Punjab cross border smuggling module allegedly facilitated the entry of heroin and firearms into India before distributing them across various locations through a structured supply chain.

According to the police, the Amritsar Commissionerate recovered 5.438 kilograms of heroin, three sophisticated pistols  including a Glock 9mm, a Zigana 9mm and a .32 bore weapon  along with 34 live cartridges and ₹4,500 suspected to be drug proceeds.

Authorities have registered multiple FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as well as the Arms Act. Investigators are now working to trace both the supply and distribution networks to dismantle the entire operation and identify additional links connected to the racket.
