Delhi Airport Sees 80 International Flight Cancellations Over West Asia Crisis
Delhi Airport Flight Cancellations Rise to 80 Amid Escalating Middle East Crisis
New Delhi, Mar 3: Delhi airport flight cancellations mounted to 80 on Tuesday morning as airlines adjusted operations in response to the worsening situation in West Asia.
Airport officials confirmed that 36 outbound and 44 inbound international services were called off due to operational disruptions linked to airspace restrictions in the region.
Several carriers, including Emirates, have begun partial resumption of services to select Middle East destinations. However, flight schedules remain affected. An Emirates service bound for Dubai was forced to return to the national capital mid-route owing to restricted airspace, while another flight from Dubai successfully landed earlier in the day, according to aviation sources.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) stated that ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East are causing delays and rescheduling of westbound international routes. The airport typically manages over 1,300 flight movements daily.
Over the past three days, Indian airlines have collectively cancelled 1,117 overseas flights as a precautionary measure amid the regional instability, reflecting the broader impact of the crisis on global air travel.
