Saudi Defence Minister Warns Iran Against ‘Miscalculation’ After Gulf Attacks
Saudi Defence Minister Warns Iran to Avoid ‘Miscalculation’ Amid Gulf Attacks
Riyadh, Mar 7: Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, on Saturday urged Iran to exercise caution and “avoid miscalculation” following a series of missile and drone attacks targeting the kingdom.
Missile Strikes Thwarted at Prince Sultan Air Base
The Saudi defence ministry reported intercepting multiple ballistic missiles aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base, which houses US military personnel. The ministry confirmed that all missiles were destroyed before causing damage.
Drone Attacks on Oil Infrastructure
In addition to missile launches, Saudi forces intercepted several drones targeting key energy installations, including the Shaybah oil field near the Emirati border. Another drone was neutralised east of Riyadh, preventing potential disruptions to the kingdom’s oil operations.
Iran Continues Aggression Across the Gulf
The attacks come a week after US-Israeli strikes against Iran, which have escalated tensions in the region. Prince Khalid stressed that these aggressive actions undermine regional security and stability.
Diplomatic Talks with Pakistan
Prince Khalid also met Pakistan’s military chief, discussing Iranian attacks and measures to counter them. He emphasized the importance of restraint and hoped Tehran would act wisely to prevent further escalation.
