DOMA Organises Iftar at Gaddigarh Juma Masjid to Promote Communal Harmony

Jammu, March 12, 2026: In a remarkable gesture of unity, brotherhood, and communal harmony, the Dalit, OBC, Minority and Adivasi (DOMA) Confederation organised a special Iftar gathering at the Gaddigarh Juma Masjid in Jammu. The event, led by State President R. K. Kalsotra, brought together members of different communities in a spirit of solidarity, mutual respect, and shared celebration during the holy month of Ramadan.

The programme witnessed the participation of several prominent social and community leaders, including Ashu Peter Mattoo, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Kuldeep Singh Giani, Babu Hussain Malik, S. Jatinder Singh Lucky, Mohd. Usman, S. Sewak Singh, Nadir Ali, along with many other distinguished personalities. The gathering was also graced by Ashraf Ali, representing the local Muslim community.

The event served as an important platform to strengthen interfaith dialogue and reaffirm the collective commitment of various communities towards social harmony and unity. Leaders present on the occasion highlighted the importance of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation in addressing the issues faced by marginalized communities.

Addressing the gathering, R. K. Kalsotra extended warm greetings to the Muslim community and conveyed his heartfelt wishes for the upcoming festival of Eid al‑Fitr. He emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening inter-religious relations and promoting a culture of peace and brotherhood. He further reiterated DOMA’s commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and welfare of all marginalized sections of society.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashu Peter Mattoo, President of the All J&K Christian Sabha, appreciated the spirit of sacrifice and devotion observed by the Muslim community during Ramadan. He highlighted that the values of compassion, self-discipline, and charity reflected during the holy month inspire communities to promote harmony and brotherhood in society.

Narinder Singh Khalsa also stressed that such gatherings are the need of the hour to build bridges between communities and strengthen interfaith unity in the region.

Babu Hussain Malik remarked that all communities are like a garland, where each religion represents a different flower, yet together they create a beautiful bond of unity and love. He emphasized that all religions teach humanity to love and respect one another.

In his remarks, Ashraf Ali, President of the local Muslim community, warmly welcomed the DOMA delegation and expressed gratitude for their participation in the Iftar gathering. He appreciated the spirit of solidarity shown by leaders from different faiths and emphasized that continuous dialogue and cooperation among communities are essential for building a peaceful and progressive society.

Ajay Sharma, SP South, also graced the occasion and greeted the community, emphasizing the importance of interfaith unity. Jarnail Singh, Chowki Officer, accompanied him.
