Uttar Pradesh Government Steps Up Measures to Ensure Uninterrupted LPG and Fuel Supply

State launches anti-hoarding crackdown and sets up monitoring system to prevent shortages of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders.

UP, Mar 14 : The government of Uttar Pradesh has stepped up efforts to ensure an uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel across the state amid rising concerns over potential shortages. Acting under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, authorities have launched a wide ranging drive against hoarding and irregularities in fuel distribution.

The campaign is being coordinated by the Food and Civil Supplies Department in partnership with district administrations. Chief Secretary S. P. Goyal has directed all district magistrates to closely monitor fuel availability and take immediate steps to prevent disruptions in supply.

According to an official statement, enforcement teams carried out inspections and raids at 1,483 locations across multiple districts. During the operations, four FIRs were registered against LPG distributors, while another 20 cases were filed against individuals allegedly involved in black marketing of cooking gas. Six suspects were arrested during the raids and legal proceedings were initiated against 19 others.

Authorities said measures have also been taken to maintain smooth distribution of LPG refills for households. A total of 4,108 LPG distributors have been activated to ensure that consumers receive filled cylinders against their bookings without delays. Officials confirmed that sufficient stocks are currently available across distribution points.

The central government has also allowed allocation of up to 20 percent of total LPG consumption for commercial cylinders to ensure that hotels, restaurants and other establishments continue to receive supplies without interruption.

To monitor the situation and address complaints quickly, a 24-hour control room has been set up at the office of the Food Commissioner. Officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department are stationed there to track the distribution of petroleum products. Similar control rooms have also been established in all districts, with local administration teams conducting regular field monitoring to ensure availability of LPG, petrol and diesel for consumers.
