UAE Air Defences Respond to Iranian Missile and Drone Attacks Amid Escalating Hostilities
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the nation’s military forces are actively engaged in defensive operations following a fresh wave of aerial attacks from Iran.
Air Defence Systems Intercept Multiple Threats
According to an official statement, UAE air defences are “currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran.” This latest incident comes just four hours after a similar engagement, highlighting a rapid escalation in regional hostilities.
Reports indicate that UAE systems successfully intercepted 10 ballistic missiles and 45 drones launched on March 17. These defensive actions form part of an ongoing military campaign against repeated attacks targeting the country’s territory.
Sustained Military Response Since Conflict Began
Since the onset of the hostilities, UAE forces have neutralised a total of 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,672 drones, demonstrating the scale of the nation’s defensive capabilities.
Human Toll of the Strikes
The aerial campaign has resulted in casualties among both military personnel and civilians. Two UAE Armed Forces members were killed while performing their duties. Civilian fatalities include six individuals of Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian nationality, with 157 others injured, ranging from minor to severe conditions. Those affected represent the nation’s diverse population, including both Emiratis and expatriates.
Commitment to National Security
The Ministry of Defence remains on high alert and has reiterated its readiness to respond to further provocations. Military leadership emphasized their ongoing commitment to safeguarding UAE sovereignty, security, and stability, while protecting critical national assets and interests.
