IPL: Dubey, Payne Roped in as Replacements for Injured Akash Deep and Edwards
KKR and SRH make last minute squad changes ahead of season opener as injuries force reshuffle
New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have announced key replacements ahead of the upcoming IPL season, bringing in Saurabh Dubey and David Payne to fill in for injured players.
Indian pacer Akash Deep has been ruled out of the tournament due to a lumbar stress injury and will undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI medical team at its Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. KKR have signed left-arm pacer Saurabh Dubey as his replacement for ₹30 lakh.
Meanwhile, SRH have roped in David Payne as a substitute for Jack Edwards, making adjustments to their squad just days before the tournament begins.
The changes come as franchises look to finalise their combinations and address injury concerns ahead of the high-profile league, which is set to commence on March 28.
With teams fine-tuning their line-ups, the focus now shifts to player fitness and performance as the new season promises intense competition and fresh opportunities for emerging talents.
