Vaishno Devi Witnesses Massive Footfall as 2.4 Lakh Devotees Visit Shrine
Pilgrim surge during festive period leads to heavy rush at the revered shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.
KATRA: The revered shrine of Vaishno Devi has witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees, with nearly 2.4 lakh pilgrims visiting over a short span, leading to heavy rush along the pilgrimage route.
Officials said the surge in footfall is largely driven by the ongoing festive season and favourable weather conditions, attracting devotees from across the country. The yatra route from Katra to the Bhawan has remained crowded, with authorities stepping up crowd management and security measures.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims, including additional deployment of security personnel, medical teams and sanitation workers. Facilities such as drinking water, resting areas and battery car services have also been strengthened to handle the increased rush.
Authorities have urged pilgrims to follow guidelines and plan their यात्रा in advance to avoid inconvenience. Despite the heavy turnout, officials said efforts are being made to ensure a safe and orderly pilgrimage experience for all visitors.
