PM Visits Assam Tea Garden Ahead of Elections, Engages with Women Workers and Plucks Tea Leaves
During a day-long poll visit to Dibrugarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacts with tea garden families, discusses local issues, and witnesses cultural performances.
GUWAHATI, Apr 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Manohari Tea Estate in Dibrugarh district on Wednesday during his day long tour of poll bound Assam, where he plucked tea leaves and engaged closely with women workers.
On his visit, Modi spent nearly 30 minutes with a group of 19 women dressed in traditional white sarees with red borders. He listened to their concerns regarding education, healthcare, and wages, while also appreciating their hard work and contribution to Assam’s tea industry.
Sharing his experience on X, the Prime Minister said, “We are very proud of the efforts of each and every tea garden family. Their hard work and perseverance have enhanced Assam’s pride.” Photos from the visit showed Modi plucking tea leaves and placing them into a traditional basket alongside the women.
The visit also included a glimpse into local culture, as Modi witnessed a traditional Jhumur dance performance and spent time learning about the workers’ customs, even capturing a selfie with them.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address two election rallies at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district and Behali in Biswanath, continuing his campaign for BJP candidates in the region.
