Amit Shah Hails Jan Vishwas Bill as ‘Game-Changer’ for Businesses and Citizens
Landmark reform aims to decriminalise minor offences and simplify legal processes across central laws
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday welcomed the passage of the Jan Vishwas Bill 2026 in Parliament, describing it as a major reform to improve both governance and the economic climate. He said the legislation reflects the government’s commitment to reducing legal complexities and promoting a more citizen friendly system.
In a message shared on X, Shah highlighted that the bill removes several outdated and minor penal provisions, paving the way for smoother day to day functioning for individuals and businesses alike. He added that the reform aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a modern and efficient India where compliance is simplified.
The newly passed legislation introduces amendments to hundreds of provisions across numerous central laws, focusing on decriminalising minor violations and replacing them with civil penalties where appropriate. The move is expected to reduce unnecessary litigation and prevent harassment arising from outdated legal clauses.
Officials believe the reform will significantly strengthen the business ecosystem by making regulatory frameworks more transparent and less punitive, thereby encouraging investment and innovation while also improving the ease of living for citizens.
