Jan Vishwas Bill a Major Boost for Ease of Living and Business: Amit Shah

Parliament passes amendments to decriminalise minor offences and streamline 79 central laws, boosting India’s business climate.

NEW DELHI, Apr 3: Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the passage of the Jan Vishwas Bill, 2026, in Parliament as a “giant step” towards improving both ease of living and ease of doing business in India.

In a post on X late Thursday, Shah emphasized that the bill, by cutting down numerous legal provisions, aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “New India,” making everyday life simpler and reducing bureaucratic hurdles for businesses.

The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, approved by Parliament on Thursday, revises 784 provisions across 79 central laws. It aims to decriminalise minor offences and rationalise outdated regulations, fostering a more business-friendly environment while curbing unnecessary legal harassment of citizens.
