Punjab Announces Major Medical Institute to Strengthen Healthcare Education

New medical college and hospital to enhance healthcare access and training capacity

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has unveiled a major healthcare and medical education expansion plan with the establishment of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences. The institute will train 100 MBBS students annually and include a 300 bed hospital equipped with advanced diagnostic facilities.

In addition, a new community health centre and several wellness centres are being developed to improve rural healthcare delivery. The initiative is expected to strengthen both healthcare infrastructure and the availability of trained medical professionals across the region.
