Government to Organise Nationwide Programmes Honouring B. R. Ambedkar: Minister
‘Bhim Jyoti Utsav’ and Constitution-themed programmes to engage citizens across the capital
New Delhi, April 10: The Delhi Government has announced a series of events from April 10 to 14 to commemorate the 136th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna B. R. Ambedkar. Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said the initiative aims to honour the legacy and vision of the architect of the Indian Constitution.
Inviting public participation, the minister said the celebrations this year will be held on a large scale, reflecting the enduring influence of Babasaheb’s ideals. A key attraction will be the “Bhim Jyoti Utsav,” scheduled near India Gate in the Kasturba Gandhi Marg area. The event will feature a specially curated gallery showcasing rare literature, milestones, and defining moments from Ambedkar’s life.
Visitors will have the opportunity to gain deeper insights into his contributions, philosophy, and struggles through interactive displays and exhibitions. The programme will also include folk and cultural performances aimed at connecting people with his message of equality and justice.
Under the “Bhim Jyoti Utsav 2026” initiative, similar large scale activities will be conducted at multiple locations across Delhi to ensure widespread community involvement. The campaign seeks to promote constitutional values, social harmony, and inclusive development.
The multi-day programme will feature floral tributes, Constitution-themed festivals, awareness drives, walkathons, workshops, quiz contests, and art exhibitions. Special emphasis will be placed on educating young people about their rights and responsibilities, inspired by Ambedkar’s vision for a just society.
