ISLAMABAD, Apr 11: In a significant diplomatic development, United States Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad on Saturday to participate in crucial peace negotiations with an Iranian delegation aimed at easing tensions in West Asia.
The Iranian side is being led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, accompanied by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The talks are seen as a key step toward de-escalating the ongoing conflict in the region.
Upon arrival at Nur Khan Air Base, Vance was received by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar along with Army Chief Asim Munir, reflecting the importance Islamabad has attached to the negotiations.
Vance is accompanied by senior officials including special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, indicating a high-level US commitment to the dialogue process.
