Final preparations underway as Prime Minister’s visit combines infrastructure launch with temple visit and Char Dham readiness review

NEW DELHI: Final arrangements are in place for Narendra Modi’s visit to Uttarakhand on April 14, where he will inaugurate the much-anticipated Dehradun–Delhi Expressway, a key project aimed at improving regional connectivity.

As part of his itinerary, the Prime Minister will offer prayers at the revered Dat Kali Temple before officially launching the expressway. Preparations at the temple have intensified, with elaborate floral decorations being arranged using flowers brought from Vrindavan and West Bengal.

Local representatives confirmed that the Prime Minister’s temple visit will be brief, lasting a few minutes, amid tight security and scheduled engagements. The event will also be attended by senior leaders, including Pushkar Singh Dhami and Yogi Adityanath.

Stretching approximately 210 kilometres, the expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Uttarakhand and the national capital, while boosting tourism and economic activity in the region. The project will feature multiple toll plazas and modern infrastructure सुविधाएं.

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, the Uttarakhand government has also been reviewing preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. Officials have confirmed that arrangements for essential services such as accommodation, water supply, sanitation, electricity, and parking have been strengthened to accommodate the expected influx of pilgrims starting April 23.

State authorities have described the expressway inauguration as a major development milestone, highlighting its potential to enhance accessibility and support the region’s growth trajectory.
