President Hails Operation Sindoor as India’s Firm Stand Against Terrorism

NEW DELHI, May 7: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday hailed Operation Sindoor as a powerful symbol of India’s uncompromising stand against terrorism, asserting that the nation remains alert and fully prepared to defend its sovereignty against any threat.
Marking the first anniversary of the military operation, the President said the mission reflected the exceptional courage, discipline and commitment of the Indian armed forces. In a message shared on X, she described the operation as a decisive response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that shook the nation in April last year.
“The extraordinary success of this mission reflects the unmatched courage and determination of our armed forces. The brutal attack at Pahalgam was met with befitting and exemplary precision,” Murmu stated.
She further emphasised that Operation Sindoor has become a defining example of India’s steadfast policy against terrorism and forces attempting to endanger the country’s unity and citizens.
The President underlined that India stands united in safeguarding national interests and warned that any attempt to threaten the nation would be met with strong retaliation. She also paid tribute to the bravery, sacrifice and professionalism displayed by soldiers during the operation.
Operation Sindoor was conducted between May 7 and May 10, 2025, when Indian defence forces launched targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure and military facilities located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The military action came in response to the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians, most of them tourists, lost their lives in a brutal assault carried out by three Pakistani terrorists.
The operation was widely viewed as one of India’s most significant counter-terror responses in recent years, reinforcing the country’s commitment to national security and zero tolerance towards terrorism.
