NC to kick start district conventions to intensify public outreach

District conventions to begin this weekend, aimed at reaching every district headquarters across Kashmir: Mir 

Srinagar, 14 May: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Kashmir Showkat Mir Thursday chaired a meeting with legislators and district office bearers of District Budgam at Nawa-e-Subah Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Ali Muhammad Dar, Saifudin Bhat, Dr. Mohammad Shafi Wani, District President Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Nazir Gogoo.

Besides discussing various public and organisational matters, it was decided that the party will kick-start its district conventions from Budgam. The first convention will be held in Budgam next Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mir urged party workers and office bearers to actively highlight the good governance and welfare initiatives undertaken by the Omar Abdullah-led government for the benefit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the government has introduced several welfare-focused measures, including 200 units of free electricity for AAY households, additional ration support for poor families, free bus travel for women and differently-abled persons, enhanced pensions for vulnerable sections, increased marriage assistance for girls from economically weaker sections, free LPG cylinders for AAY families, fee waivers for students from underprivileged backgrounds, sponsorship support for orphans, expansion of healthcare facilities and trauma hospitals, youth employment initiatives, farmer and horticulture support programmes and various schemes aimed at inclusive growth and social security for weaker sections of society.
