J&K Govt Clears Rs 72 Crore Projects to Boost Sanitation Infrastructure
New sanitation initiatives aim to improve sewage treatment, protect water bodies and enhance public health standards in J&K.
SRINAGAR, May 16: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved major Used Water Management Projects for Baramulla and Rajouri districts as part of efforts to upgrade sanitation facilities and tackle wastewater issues in the Union Territory.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, projects worth Rs 37.96 crore for Baramulla and Rs 34.43 crore for Rajouri have received administrative approval.
The initiatives are aimed at ensuring scientific sewage treatment and reducing contamination of rivers and other water bodies. Officials said the projects are expected to bring significant improvements in hygiene, sanitation and overall living conditions for residents of both districts.
The government said the new infrastructure will also contribute to better public health outcomes by addressing long-pending wastewater management concerns in the region.
