Ex-JKSPDC Superintending Engineer Chargesheeted Over Fake Birth Record Case
Crime Branch alleges retired officer altered birth date to secure extended tenure and additional service benefits
SRINAGAR, May 18: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a former In-Charge Superintending Engineer of the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation in an alleged service record manipulation case aimed at obtaining unlawful official benefits.
The chargesheet was submitted before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar in connection with FIR No. 09/2015 registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 201 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), officials said.
According to investigators, the case originated from a written complaint accusing the retired officer of tampering with official documents related to his date of birth. The investigation was carried out by the then Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir, presently functioning as the Economic Offences Wing Kashmir.
Probe findings revealed that the accused allegedly modified his birth date from October 28, 1955, to October 28, 1958, in official service records. Authorities believe the alteration was made to continue in government service beyond the actual retirement period and gain additional financial and service-related advantages.
