Congress HQ Jammu named as Rajiv Bhawan; Karra reads Sonia Gandhi’s message to Congress workers
Party to dedicate this week to the commemoration of martyrdom of Rajiv Gandhi in J&K
Jammu, May 19 : Congress party office in Jammu will be known as Rajiv Bhawan from today. JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra today inaugurated the renovated party office at Shaeedi Chowk Jammu and dedicated it in the name of Shaheed Rajiv Gandhi, in the presence of top leadership of the party from entire Jammu province including former ministers, former MLAs, Former MLCs, District Presidents, Block Presidents, Ex Corporators and frontal wings and large number of workers.
Karra unfurled the party flag at the entrance of the headquarters amidst singing of national anthem and pulled the curtain over the name board of “Rajiv Bhawan ” in the presence of. Large gathering who rented Rajiv Gandhi Amar Rahen, INC Zindabad.
Addressing the gathering of senior leaders and party functionaries, Shri Karra read out the message of CPP Chairperson Smt Sonia Gandhi appreciating the move of JKPCC President and entire team to name the renovated party HQ Jammu in the name of Shri ‘Rajiv Gandhi in the eve of his martyrdom day which falls on May 21.
Shri Tariq Hameed Karra has informed Smt. Sonia Gandhi about the decision of JKPCC to name the renovated office of the party in Jammu in the name of former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi, on the eve of his martyrdom day, which falls on May 21.
Shri Karra referred to the spirit behind the decision to name the Congress party office here as Rajiv Bhawan and said that everyone visiting here will draw an inspiration and spirit of service and sacrifice for the nation.
Dedicating the full week in the commemorate the martyrdom of Former Prime minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Karra asked all district Presidents and other leaders to hold functions on May 21, Rajiv ‘S martyrdom day and all other days in different parts in the memory of martyr, who sacrificed his life for the nation.
He recalled his contributions and visionary steps during his stewardship which included his peace initiatives within country and international levels. Shri Rajiv Gandhi was the youngest prime minister of the country, who focused his policies on the youth & for on preparing youth for 21st century challenges based on the advancement of science, IT & computer education which has brought dividends for the nation especially youth in the present times.
India has emerged a global leader in IT and computerisation due to vision and efforts of Rajiv Gandhi .The youth of our country are earning crores of jobs in the sector, due to the timely initiatives and efforts of Rajiv Gandhi, he added.
Karra said his another big gift to youth is lowering the voting age from 21years to 18 years in order to give share and empower youth in the power system.
Karra said that introduction of modern three tier panchayat Raj system in the country, through 73rd and 74th amendment giving 33 percent reservation to women besides SC,ST,OBC proportional to their population at different levels, is the vision of Rajiv Gandhi.
Today lacs of women in the country and thousands in our UT, are the leaders after getting elected due to 33 percent reservation at different levels. Similarly SCs, STs are also availing political reservation and representation at different levels of three tier Panchayat Raj system in the country and Jammu & Kashmir due Rajiv Gandhi ‘s vision and efforts.
Karra said that the second Phase of Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan is going on well in all districts of J&K and appreciated the team of PCC observers and Coordinators for going to every nook and corner to interact with grass root party workers.
He also appreciated the District Presidents and others involved in the process. He said Congress is a democratic organization which believes in inner party democracy and involvement of all to strengthen the party.
