India, May 25 : India’s sports industry is receiving fresh momentum as southern states, particularly Tamil Nadu, strengthen their position in sports goods manufacturing.
Policy experts say India has the potential to become a major exporter in the global sports equipment market, which is projected to cross one trillion dollars by 2036.
Tamil Nadu’s strong industrial ecosystem, port connectivity and MSME network are helping the state attract investments in textiles, leather products and sports equipment manufacturing.
Industry observers believe India can significantly improve its global market share if it focuses on innovation, testing facilities and domestic supply chains.
