Anti-Terror Operation Intensifies in Rajouri’s Gambhir Mughlan Forests for Fourth Consecutive Day
Army, J&K Police and CRPF intensify searches in Manjakote’s dense forest belt after contact with suspected terrorists
Rajouri, May 26: The ongoing Rajouri anti-terror operation entered its fourth consecutive day on Tuesday as security forces continued extensive search efforts in the dense forest areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector following intelligence inputs about the movement of suspected terrorists.
The joint operation is being conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF across the challenging terrain of the Pir Panjal region. Officials said contact with the suspected terrorists was established on Sunday during an intelligence-based operation, triggering a brief exchange of fire.
Since then, security forces have expanded surveillance and combing operations across the forest belt to track down the suspects. The Army’s White Knight Corps had earlier confirmed that joint teams launched the operation after receiving specific inputs regarding terrorist presence in the area.
Residents of nearby villages said the security presence has increased significantly over the last few days, with several routes placed under close monitoring.
Local resident Aqib Khan said forces have maintained a strong deployment in the area since fresh inputs emerged about suspicious movement in the forests. He added that villagers are cooperating with the agencies and hoping the situation returns to normal soon.
Another resident, Mohd Jawed, said the mountainous terrain and thick forest cover make the operation difficult for the forces carrying out searches in the region.
Mohd Zubair said people in adjoining villages are closely watching developments and praying for peace and stability in the area.
