Srinagar Authorities Demolish ₹2 Crore Property Linked to Alleged Drug Trafficker

Action under Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan leads to recovery of government land and targets assets allegedly linked to narcotics-related activities.

Srinagar, June 4: In a significant move against the illegal drug trade, Srinagar Police, working alongside the Revenue Department, carried out the demolition of a three storey residential structure in the Rainawari area that was allegedly connected to a suspected narcotics operator. The property, estimated to be worth nearly ₹2 crore, was removed as part of an intensified campaign aimed at dismantling financial networks associated with drug trafficking.

Officials said the operation was conducted under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, a government initiative focused on eliminating the drug menace and curbing the influence of narcotics related criminal activities across the Union Territory.

Investigations reportedly revealed that the building had been constructed on government-owned land without authorization. Following verification of ownership records and legal scrutiny, authorities initiated action to reclaim the encroached land and restore it to the State.

According to police officials, the individual linked to the property has been named in several cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in different parts of Kashmir. During the inquiry, law enforcement agencies examined the source of assets and allegedly found connections between the property and income suspected to have originated from unlawful activities.

After completing the required legal formalities, authorities proceeded with the demolition in the presence of Revenue Department representatives. The action forms part of a broader strategy to weaken the economic foundations of criminal networks by targeting assets believed to be generated through illicit trade.

Senior officials stated that the campaign is not limited to arrests and seizures but also focuses on identifying and acting against properties and investments suspected to have been acquired through proceeds of crime. They emphasized that disrupting financial gains remains a crucial element in the fight against organized narcotics operations.

The administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining pressure on drug trafficking syndicates and preventing the misuse of public resources and land. Officials said coordinated efforts between enforcement agencies and civil administration will continue to ensure strict action against individuals involved in activities that threaten public safety and social well-being.

Authorities also appealed to residents to support anti-drug initiatives by sharing information about suspicious activities and helping create a safer, drug-free environment for future generations in Jammu and Kashmir.
