EOW Kashmir Chargesheets Two in Bandipora for Using Fake Certificates to Illegally Extend Service Tenure

Probe alleges manipulation of official records through false educational claims and forged certificates to secure extended government employment benefits.

SRINAGAR, June 7: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against two individuals from Bandipora district for allegedly securing unlawful extensions in government service by using forged documents and misrepresenting personal records.

The chargesheet was submitted before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Sumbal, in connection with FIR No. 05/2026. The case has been registered under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code, which deal with cheating, forgery and the use of forged documents as genuine.

According to officials, the investigation uncovered that the accused had allegedly concealed their actual educational status and projected themselves differently in official records to facilitate changes in their documented dates of birth. These alterations were reportedly supported by fraudulent certificates and other fabricated documents.

Investigators found that the modified records enabled the accused to continue in government service beyond their legitimate retirement period. The alleged irregularities resulted in additional salary and service related benefits, causing financial loss to the public exchequer.

Following the completion of the investigation, the Crime Branch forwarded the case for judicial scrutiny by filing the chargesheet before the competent court. The matter will now proceed through the legal process.

The Economic Offences Wing also reiterated its appeal to citizens to remain vigilant against financial and document-related frauds. Officials urged members of the public to promptly report any suspected economic offences to law enforcement authorities so that timely action can be taken.

The agency further stated that victims or complainants can approach the Economic Offences Wing through its official communication channels for assistance and legal redressal in cases involving economic crimes.
