Rahul Gandhi Slams Education System at Kota Rally, Calls It a ‘Rejection and Extortion Machine’
Congress Leader Raises Concerns Over Academic Pressure, Exam Irregularities and Youth Challenges
Kota, June 17: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a sharp critique of the country’s academic framework during a major student gathering in Rajasthan’s coaching hub of Kota on Wednesday. Addressing thousands of students at the “Chhatron ki Goonj” Maha Rally, Gandhi argued that the existing structure has become overly burdensome for students and their families, requiring urgent reforms to make education more inclusive and supportive.
Speaking before an enthusiastic audience, the Congress leader said that the current setup often creates barriers rather than opportunities for young learners. According to him, many students face intense competition, mounting expectations, and financial pressures that affect their overall well being and confidence.
Gandhi emphasized that education should encourage creativity, ambition, and personal growth rather than becoming a source of anxiety. He stressed that students should be empowered to pursue their aspirations without constantly worrying about excessive academic stress or economic burdens placed on their families.
During his address, the Congress MP highlighted concerns regarding examination related issues, including recurring allegations of paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment processes. He noted that such incidents undermine the trust of young people who dedicate years of effort to preparing for competitive examinations.
Referring to the challenges faced by students across the country, Gandhi said that many young individuals experience disappointment and uncertainty despite investing significant time and resources in their education. He argued that these concerns deserve serious attention from policymakers and educational institutions.
The Congress leader also spoke about the growing issue of unemployment among educated youth. He observed that many graduates struggle to secure suitable employment opportunities despite obtaining degrees and professional qualifications. According to him, bridging the gap between education and employability should be a priority for governments and institutions alike.
Kota, known nationally for its extensive coaching industry, has frequently been at the center of discussions surrounding academic pressure and student mental health. Gandhi said the experiences of students in the city reflect broader challenges within the education ecosystem and called for collaborative efforts to create a more balanced environment.
Addressing the emotional well-being of students, he stressed the importance of building a system that nurtures confidence and resilience. He remarked that no student should feel isolated or overwhelmed because of academic expectations and competitive pressures.
The interaction session allowed students to directly raise concerns regarding examinations, career opportunities, and educational policies. Participants shared their experiences and expectations from policymakers, while Gandhi assured them that their voices should play a crucial role in shaping future reforms.
The rally formed part of the Congress party’s broader outreach to youth and students, focusing on issues such as education quality, employment generation, and transparency in recruitment processes. Party leaders present at the event reiterated their commitment to advocating policies aimed at reducing student stress and improving access to opportunities.
As debates over educational reforms continue across the country, Gandhi’s remarks have once again brought attention to the challenges faced by students navigating a highly competitive academic environment. His call for a more supportive and opportunity-driven framework is expected to contribute to the ongoing national conversation on the future of education and youth development.
