UGC Urges Universities to Fast-Track Admissions After CUET Results

New Delhi, June 29: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has advised universities across the country to expedite the undergraduate admission process following the announcement of CUET UG 2026 results. The Commission emphasized that institutions should adhere to transparent procedures while ensuring students are not inconvenienced during counselling and seat allocation.

According to the advisory, universities should publish admission schedules, programme-wise eligibility conditions and merit lists in a timely manner. Institutions have also been encouraged to strengthen online counselling systems and provide adequate grievance redressal mechanisms for applicants.

The UGC said that prompt admissions would help ensure the new academic session begins on schedule and reduce uncertainty among students awaiting enrolment.

Universities have also been asked to coordinate with admission committees to streamline document verification and avoid unnecessary delays in confirming seats. The Commission stressed the importance of providing clear information regarding reservation policies, fee structures and admission deadlines.

Education experts welcomed the move, noting that timely admissions would benefit students by allowing academic activities to commence without disruption. With CUET now serving as the primary gateway for admissions to numerous higher education institutions, efficient implementation of the admission process remains a key priority for universities across India.
