CJP Protesters Continue Jantar Mantar Sit In as Support Grows Overnight

NEW DELHI, July 22: The protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) continued at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Wednesday, with fresh supporters joining the sit in overnight and volunteers receiving food and essential supplies from sympathisers as the agitation against alleged irregularities in competitive examinations entered its second month.

The protesters have maintained their presence at the designated protest site despite increased security arrangements following the police action during the group’s “Sansad Chalo” march on Monday.

In a post shared on social media platform X, CJP claimed that a large number of demonstrators had gathered at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday morning and repeated its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The organisation said the protest represented growing frustration among young aspirants over alleged issues in the examination system and called for greater accountability from authorities.

Supporters Strengthen Protest Site

According to organisers, several supporters arrived at the protest location during the night and contributed food and other necessities for those participating in the demonstration.

The gathering remained peaceful as protesters continued their sit-in under heavy security presence in the area.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the movement would continue until the protesters’ demands, including the resignation of the Education Minister, were considered.

He described the ongoing demonstration as a significant moment for young people raising concerns about the education system and competitive examinations.

CJP Clarifies About Protest Gatherings

Late Tuesday night, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke issued a clarification stating that the organisation had only appealed for people to assemble at Jantar Mantar and had not announced demonstrations at any other locations in Delhi.

Dipke claimed that the group had received information about possible attempts by unidentified individuals to create disturbances elsewhere in the national capital.

He said such activities were not connected with the CJP movement and appealed to supporters to maintain the peaceful nature of the protest.

Protest Enters Second Month

The agitation began on June 20 with demands for action over alleged examination irregularities, improvements in the education system and accountability from authorities.

Since then, the protest has attracted attention from students, activists and supporters who have raised concerns regarding transparency in competitive examinations.

The organisers have maintained that their movement is focused on seeking reforms and ensuring a fair system for students appearing in major examinations.

Sonam Wangchuk Continues Hunger Strike

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the protest on June 28, has continued his indefinite hunger strike over the issue.

After being shifted from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital following a Delhi High Court order, Wangchuk has continued his fast while urging authorities to address concerns related to the education system.

Wangchuk has stated that he will continue the hunger strike until concrete steps are taken towards accountability or political representatives assure him that the matter will be discussed in Parliament.

Government Response Awaited

As the protest continues at Jantar Mantar, attention remains focused on the government’s response to the demands raised by CJP and other participants.

The demonstrators have indicated that they plan to continue their sit-in until they receive a satisfactory response from authorities, keeping pressure on the government over allegations related to examination management and education reforms.
