Delhi Metro Shuts Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, ITO and 15 Key Stations: Check Complete DMRC List
Metro services remain operational, but passenger entry and exit have been restricted at 16 stations from 7:30 AM until further notice as protests over the NEET controversy intensify in the national capital.
New Delhi, July 23: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday imposed temporary restrictions at 16 Metro stations across the national capital, suspending passenger entry and exit from 7:30 AM until further orders. While the corporation did not specify the reason behind the move, it confirmed that interchange facilities would continue to function at select stations to ensure network connectivity.
According to the DMRC, passengers will still be able to change trains at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat, even though these stations have been closed for regular boarding and deboarding.
The announcement was made through the corporation’s official social media channels, informing commuters that the restrictions would remain in effect until further notice. The advisory urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.

Passengers travelling through central Delhi have been advised to use alternative routes and remain updated through official DMRC communication channels.
Restrictions Continue for Second Consecutive Day
This is the second straight day that the Delhi Metro has imposed similar restrictions. On Wednesday, the same stations were temporarily shut citing security-related concerns before normal operations resumed later in the evening.
The latest decision comes amid heightened security arrangements in parts of the capital as demonstrations linked to the alleged NEET examination paper leak continue near Jantar Mantar.
Protests Intensify Around Jantar Mantar
The youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been leading protests demanding accountability over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
As the agitation entered another day, protesters alleged that internet connectivity around the demonstration site had been disrupted. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke questioned the reported internet shutdown and expressed concern that authorities could be preparing for stricter action against demonstrators.
In separate social media posts, Dipke appealed to police and paramilitary personnel to exercise restraint during crowd management and avoid the use of force against peaceful protesters.
Clash Reported Between Protesters and Police
Tensions briefly escalated on Wednesday night when protesters and Delhi Police reportedly clashed near Connaught Place.
According to police officials, the incident occurred around 8:30 PM near Tolstoy Marg after some individuals allegedly hurled stones and bottles at security personnel. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Connaught Place) Vivek Bhagat sustained injuries during the confrontation and was taken to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment.
Police later stated that the situation was brought under control and normalcy had been restored in the area.
Political Reactions Surface
The protest has also drawn political attention. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sanjay Yadav criticised the Centre’s handling of student concerns, arguing that the demonstrations reflected growing frustration among young people rather than being driven by political parties.
He said the government should address the grievances of students instead of dismissing the movement, describing the protest as a reflection of public dissatisfaction over examination-related issues.

With restrictions likely to remain in place until fresh instructions are issued, commuters travelling through central Delhi are advised to monitor official DMRC updates before beginning their journey. While train services continue to operate across the network, entry and exit at the affected stations remain suspended, making travel plans subject to change depending on the prevailing security situation.
