New Delhi, Aug. 1: Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has responded to the criticism surrounding her recent remarks on youth protests, accusing social media users of taking scenes from her films out of context and using them to mislead young audiences.
In a message posted on her Instagram Stories on Friday, Ranaut questioned the practice of circulating clips from her movies and public appearances to attack her over recent comments, arguing that fictional roles and professionally managed events should not be equated with real-life behaviour.
She said film characters are performances created for entertainment and that appearances at high-profile events take place under controlled environments with organisers, security personnel and production teams. According to her, comparing such footage with ordinary public behaviour creates a misleading narrative, particularly for impressionable viewers.
Ranaut also urged people not to confuse cinematic portrayals with everyday conduct, warning that spreading such comparisons could influence young people in the wrong direction. She added that misinformation shared today could eventually affect the next generation as well.
The controversy follows Ranaut’s comments on the recent Cockroach Janata Party-led demonstrations, where she criticised sections of Gen Z protesters. In an earlier social media post, she described videos from the protests as “puke-inducing” and questioned the language and behaviour displayed by participants.
