Yogi Adityanath Counters Opposition Over Temple Donation Row, Defends Ram Devotion
Chief minister urges constructive legislative debate while accusing critics of adopting contradictory positions on the Ayodhya temple issue.
UP, Aug 03 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday strongly defended the management of donations made to the Ram temple in Ayodhya, accusing opposition parties of adopting contradictory positions on the issue while recalling their past stance during the temple movement.
Speaking to reporters before the start of the Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature, the chief minister said those now questioning the handling of temple donations had previously opposed the construction of the shrine. Without naming any political party, he alleged that the same groups had attempted to obstruct the Ram temple project through legal challenges and had resisted public movements associated with it.
Adityanath asserted that critics raising allegations over donations had made no contribution towards the construction of the temple. He said the nation was witnessing what he described as the opposition’s inconsistent approach on the Ayodhya issue.
His remarks came as opposition members staged protests over the temple donation controversy on the opening day of the Monsoon Session, making the matter one of the key political flashpoints in the state legislature.
Calling for a productive legislative session, the chief minister appealed to legislators from both the ruling and opposition benches to participate in healthy discussions focused on public welfare. He stressed that debates inside the House should remain constructive and aimed at addressing the concerns of the people.
Adityanath also highlighted the government’s supplementary budget, stating that it includes measures to improve financial assistance for frontline workers, including Anganwadi staff, ASHA workers, cooks engaged in government welfare schemes and village chowkidars. According to him, the additional allocation is intended to enhance their honorariums and strengthen public service delivery across the state.
Expressing optimism about the functioning of the Assembly, the chief minister urged opposition parties to move beyond political confrontation and work together for Uttar Pradesh’s development. He said collective efforts in the legislature would help accelerate the state’s progress and improve the lives of its nearly 25 crore residents.
