New Delhi, Aug. 6: Healthcare professionals have called for stronger regulatory frameworks and human oversight as artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform medical diagnosis, treatment planning and hospital management across India.
Experts said AI-powered tools are helping doctors detect diseases earlier, analyse medical images with greater speed and improve administrative efficiency. However, they cautioned that technology should complement clinical expertise rather than replace medical judgment.
Medical specialists stressed that patient safety, data privacy and algorithm transparency must remain central to AI adoption in healthcare. They warned that excessive dependence on automated systems without adequate validation could lead to diagnostic errors and ethical concerns.
Public health experts also recommended regular audits of AI-based healthcare solutions to ensure fairness, accuracy and accountability. They said clear regulatory standards would help build trust among patients while encouraging responsible innovation.
Doctors believe India has significant potential to become a global leader in digital healthcare, provided emerging technologies are introduced with strong governance, continuous monitoring and patient-centric policies.
