BJP’s Prasad Accuses Rahul Gandhi, Kharge of Misleading Public on Amit Shah
BJP leader says the Home Minister is ready for debate, alleges the Opposition is stalling House proceedings while spreading misinformation and avoiding discussions.
New Delhi, Aug. 7: BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, accusing them of creating a misleading narrative against Union Home Minister Amit Shah while deliberately obstructing Parliament to prevent meaningful debate on issues raised by the Opposition.
His remarks came as both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated disruptions over protests linked to student concerns and allegations surrounding the reported theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The continued protests forced adjournments in both Houses, further delaying legislative business.
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament House complex, Prasad asserted that Amit Shah has been present in Parliament throughout the session and is fully prepared to respond to every allegation once normal proceedings resume.
He said the Opposition repeatedly demands the Home Minister’s presence in the House despite the fact that Shah remains available every day and is willing to participate in a structured debate. According to Prasad, the government has never shied away from discussion, but disruptions by Opposition members have prevented Parliament from functioning effectively.
The BJP leader argued that frequent protests and slogan-shouting leave no room for debate, making it impossible for ministers to present the government’s position. He maintained that once the House functions normally, the Home Minister would address all issues raised by Opposition parties and respond comprehensively.
Prasad further alleged that Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge were attempting to mislead the public by presenting what he described as a false political narrative. He insisted that the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, the BJP and the NDA government remain willing to answer every question raised in Parliament through proper democratic procedures.
Calling the allegations against the government baseless, Prasad said the country deserves to know the facts rather than political accusations. He maintained that constructive debate, rather than repeated disruptions, is the appropriate forum for resolving differences between the government and the Opposition.
Expanding his criticism, the former Union minister also targeted the Jharkhand government over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. He claimed that several examinations in the state had been entrusted to a company that had previously been blacklisted in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s stand on youth and employment, Prasad accused the Congress leader of remaining silent on the alleged examination-related issues in Jharkhand while actively raising student concerns in other parts of the country. He alleged that the Congress leader adopts different positions depending on the political context and said voters were closely observing these contradictions.
The BJP leader reiterated that the government remains prepared for discussion on every issue, provided Parliament is allowed to function without repeated interruptions. He urged the Opposition to participate in debate instead of continuing protests that hamper legislative proceedings.
