Japanese High-Level Delegation Visits Taj Mahal, Calls It a ‘Wonderful Experience’
Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki and nearly 240 Japanese business leaders explore the iconic monument and discuss stronger ties with Uttar Pradesh.
AGRA (UP), Aug 20: A high level Japanese delegation, led by Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki and comprising around 240 chief executives from Japanese companies, visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Thursday, witnessing the architectural grandeur of one of India’s most renowned heritage monuments.
The visitors spent nearly an hour exploring the iconic site and appreciating its intricate design, craftsmanship and historical significance. Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh welcomed the delegation and accompanied its members during their tour of the monument.
Following the visit, Nagasaki described his experience at the Taj Mahal as a memorable milestone in his life. He praised the monument’s exceptional beauty and conveyed his appreciation for the people of Uttar Pradesh for preserving and protecting the globally recognised heritage site.
The Yamanashi governor also recorded his impressions in the visitors’ book at the monument. Describing the visit as a “truly wonderful experience”, he expressed gratitude for the longstanding friendship and goodwill between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi Prefecture.
Singh said the visit reflected the growing importance of relations between Uttar Pradesh and Japan. He noted that the Japanese delegation had shown keen interest in the state’s cultural heritage as well as its potential for economic cooperation.
According to the minister, Nagasaki spoke positively about Uttar Pradesh’s fertile land and hospitable people and expressed confidence that ties between the state and the Japanese prefecture would continue to expand.
Singh further highlighted the scope for deeper cooperation in areas such as cultural heritage preservation, industry, research and technological development. He said Japanese expertise and advanced technology could play an important role in supporting Uttar Pradesh’s development initiatives.
The presence of a large group of Japanese business leaders also provided an opportunity to explore potential partnerships between companies from Japan and Uttar Pradesh. Discussions around industrial collaboration, technology and research could help create new avenues for investment and knowledge exchange.
The visit to the Taj Mahal formed an important cultural component of the delegation’s wider engagement with Uttar Pradesh, combining heritage diplomacy with efforts to strengthen economic and technological cooperation between the two sides.
