UGC-NET 2026 Answer Key Released as Candidates Get Chance to Raise Objections
NTA publishes provisional responses for the June examination, while candidates can review their answers and submit challenges within the prescribed window.
NEW DELHI, Aug 23: The National Testing Agency has released the provisional answer key for the UGC-NET June 2026 examination, giving candidates an opportunity to check their recorded responses and challenge questions or answers they believe contain errors.
The answer key is part of the post-examination process for determining results for candidates who appeared in the national eligibility test. Applicants have been advised to carefully compare the provisional key with their question papers and response sheets before submitting objections.
The latest development follows the completion of the June examination cycle, which was conducted across multiple dates. The testing agency has also announced a re-examination for the English, Commerce and Sociology papers after identifying issues that affected those examinations. The three papers are scheduled to be conducted again on September 9 and 10.
Candidates challenging the provisional answers are required to follow the procedure prescribed by the NTA and submit objections within the notified period. The agency will examine valid challenges before preparing the final answer key.
The release is significant for thousands of candidates awaiting the next stage of the UGC-NET result process. Applicants are advised to rely on official NTA notifications rather than information circulating through unofficial channels.
The UGC-NET is conducted to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor, as well as admission-related academic requirements in accordance with applicable regulations.
The latest examination-related measures come amid wider scrutiny of the country’s testing system. The Education Ministry has initiated changes within the NTA following concerns over examination procedures, with officials seeking stronger safeguards, improved accountability and greater transparency.
